Sunday 4 September 2016

Happy Birthday Jay!

Up early - we left the mooring at 7.30am - two boats passed us coming in the opposite direction - it's Sunday hasn't anybody heard of a lay-in?  I could have done with one as I knew I would regret my late night!

Through the first flight of four locks and we saw another couple of boats - lots of people moving around early today.  Probably because most of them had stood still yesterday whilst it was raining and now need to make up time.  We chugged until just gone 7pm - an 11.5 hour day - 20 locks and 25 miles - that was tiring – we got half way through the four locks at Fradley Junction and there was a space to stop, shattered we had a bite to eat, shower and an early night.

Plenty of hire boats around today – you can tell we are back on the popular canals – it is very pretty around here and it’s nice to see people enjoying themselves in the sun today!

It's not sunny but at least it's not raining.

Stone looked like a lovely village - unfortunately we didn't have time to stop!

She probably has good reason to!

Swapping places - Steve needs the exercise and I need to stand still!

Steve took this photo - when he was in the lock all the ducks were in there too at the front of the boat - as I let the water out they all flew up except one who swam the length of the boat to the back - all the other ducks were looking down and quacking like mad.  Thankfully he finally flew out of the lock.

Steve keeps telling me he wants to do the locks for the exercise but I think he wants the chat really!

I wonder what that place is hiding down there?

Interesting hobby - he was making a good job of it too.

Say no more!

Piggy having a scratch!

The sun is over it somewhere in the world.

Wee Willy Winckie - I remember him from the last time we passed - we did this bit of the Trent & Mersey in the other direction back in May.

Ah so this is where the superheros live...!

Fradley Junction - we came out of the Coventry (on the left) back in May and turned left - we are now joining a part of the Trent & Mersey that we haven't done before.

Last lock of the day - there is a space just down here where we can moor :-)
