Seven swing bridges and a quick stop for water later we arrived in Gloucester. I am not sure whether it was because the weather was so awful but we both agreed that this stretch was quite boring - maybe it's because of all the excitement we've had recently going out to sea!!
We were treated to seeing about six kingfishers today and I decided that my photographic challenge was to try to take a picture of one in flight - sadly I didn't achieve this!
We arrived in Gloucester at about 1.30pm and we just got moored up and the heavens opened again! For once we were lucky - we didn't get soaked whilst chugging.
We wandered around the town in the rain then took refuge in the pub for a quick drink before returning to the boat to baton down the hatches for the night!
Pouring with rain - one lone boater travelling. |
The rain has stopped for now so we will get going - our new mooring chains - if you tie the ropes directly round the piling it wears them out very quickly. |
Goodbye Saul Junction. |
Great name! |
At last a nice looking Bridge Keepers Cottages. |
The rain clouds are still hanging around over the hills. |
Quick water fill up! |
What's that coming towards us? |
CRT moving their work station. |
As we approach Gloucester we have the industrial area to the right. |
and the residential area to the left - there seems to be quite a lot of development going on around here. |
Sadly where we moor the docks look like they have seen better days - I should have know the seagulls would love it here! |
Walking in the rain! |
Nice church. |
And pub. |
Back to the dock - shall we pop in here for a quick drink? |
Look how small we look in front of Sula - light house boat - it's for sale as a commercial opportunity. |
And our view from the back door! |
