Sunday 16 August 2015

We were awake pretty early and the book says it is nice to cruise early so we set off at 7.30am.  It was nice cruising early - there is a peaceful calm in the air and we felt like we had the whole river to ourselves.  The Cotswolds really is a lovely part of the country.

By 3.30pm we had been going for eight hours so started to look for somewhere to moor - there were several mooring spots in the centre of Evesham but as it was Sunday and the sun was shining there were people everywhere so we decided to chug on and find a quiet spot which we did just through the other side of Offenham where we had the mooring for the Fish & Anchor to ourselves, but this meant we had to go to the pub for dinner (what a shame!) - it is 5.00pm now and we have been cruising for nine and a half hours - it's amazing how tired you feel just standing on the back of the boat out in the fresh air all day!!

Peaceful calm.

This cow looked like it was in the sky!

Another Heron but look at that reflection.

They were right in the book - it is nice travelling early!

Another way to see The Cotswolds!

First lock of the day and it has a swing bridge too!

The double bridge at Pershore.

Just as interesting on the other side!

Lots of Mistletoe!

Fabulous gardens!

This paddle is a tough one!

Wyre Lock is a diamond shape - first one like this that we have seen.

Their flower bill must cost a fortune - it was like this all the way round!

Scratching Post.

Another great way to see The Cotswolds!

Fire and Rescue exercise!

Impressive tree-house.

The two signs on the wall shoe the levels of the floods in July 2007 (top) and April 1998.

My nanny Baldwin!

The little blue boat is a rope ferry - we had to give three blasts on the horn to get him to lower the rope for us!

Leaving Evesham.

Angry Swan!

These Herons get everywhere but you don't see many at the top of a tree!

Cow Duck!

Dinner.

Good night x
