Happy Birthday Auntie Jan for yesterday!
We left Brentford at 7.30am and continued our journey along
the Thames to Teddington where the tidal river ends. As we passed under Kingston Bridge we saw
Gordon and Sue (mum and dad’s friends) in their garden next to where their boat
is moored so we pulled over and said a quick hello. Back onboard we decided to head for the Wey
and Godalming Navigations as Kingston and Henley have their festivals this
weekend and the Thames was very busy and there was a lack of moorings as many
have been suspended in preparation for the festivals.
We reached Stop Lock and Thames Lock at the mouth of the Wey
in Weybridge. This river is part of the
National Trust so we had to buy a visitors pass to enter. We continued along the Wey through Town,
Coxes and New Haw Locks where we stopped as there is a Morrisons Local and we
were in need of some supplies.
On Saturday morning we left the mooring at 8.30am and
chugged along this beautiful rural river.
It was pretty busy being a Saturday and the weather being lovely and
sunny. At Pyrford Lock we met up with a
boat called George and continued along through Walsham Flood Gates and
Papercourt Lock. It was very slow going
so we decided to turn around and head back to Pyrford to moor for the night as
we are going to try to catch up with Rob who is at Henley to return the life
jacket.
As we turned round a hire boat entered the lock with two
couples, Darren and Angela and Martin and Cheryl on board so we chugged back to
Pyrford with them then ended up having a drink or four with them in The Anchor
then joined them on their boat where the evening just seemed to disappear!
