Early to bed – early to rise – we pulled pins at 10.15am –
it will take all day to get to Devizes.
Lou and Rich are coming to stay tonight so we parted company with Rob
and Claire at Pewsey having gone through Wootton Top Cadley, Brimslade, Heathey
Close, Wootton Rivers Locks. We bought
some eggs from a cottage at one of the locks.
The locks here are quite deep and really heavy so take a bit of
time.
Small world – this morning we saw Sweet William and Nog – two
boats we knew from Ely!! We chatted to
Bill and Jenny on Sweet William – they are friends with Phil and Claire and we
asked the guy on Nog if he had bought his boat from someone called Steve and he
said yes!
We found a mooring just outside the Barge Inn in a
place called Honey Street. There is
nothing here except a small campsite, the pub and a tea room. We had been told it was a bit hippieish but
we can live with that! Lou and Rich
arrived and we had dinner in the pub, then a live band started playing – Lou and
I danced the night away whilst Steve and Rich stayed guard on the back of the
boat as there were quite a lot of youngsters on the campsite and one guy decided
to pick up a canoe and throw it into the canal and smash a glass on the towpath because
his girlfriend had finished with him.....oh to be young again!
Due to the leaks in this lock wall we had a foot spa when leaving! |
