Thursday 16 July 2015

We had a later start today to get some essential boatwork done and try to catch up with the blog, only problem is the internet connection here is very weak but I managed to get a better signal by putting the mifi outside on the roof!

This is a truly lovely part of the country – beautiful countryside and pretty villages. Today we saw a horsedrawn barge –amazing, we have never seen one before.  It rained this morning but was muggy for most of the day with a little bit of sunshine finally putting in an appearance early evening.
Chugging on through Hamstead, Copse, Dreweat’s, Kintbury, Brunsden, Wire and Dunmill Locks.  We had a stop at Kintbury to empty the loos and fill the water tank which took forever and finally moored up at 7.15pm in Hungerford.  No cooking tonight - off to the pub for dinner!

View from the lounge window - the banks are very overgrown!

What would you rather be doing Steve - working in Hampstead or pushing Hamstead Lock.....?

Beautiful countryside

When we first caught sight of this we couldn't see the horse on the towpath just the rope from the boat.

Wonderful!

The guy did say that this could be interesting as they don't have reverse!!

and off they go under the bridge.

More lovely houses.

Come on Claire you can help with this lock!

Moored up in Hungerford
