1 June 2016

The weather is a bit overcast today so we decided to have a day standing still and we are only two miles from the beginning of the Llangollen and it's half term week!  There are lots of hire boats on this stretch of canal, in fact there are a lot of boats on this stretch of canal full stop! It definitely seems much busier to us up in the Midlands than it did on the southern canals last year although this time last year we were in Roydon Marina so were not actually cruising.

I talked Steve (well dragged him kicking and screaming!) into cleaning the roof and once I had got him out there, there was no stopping him – we then cleaned the whole boat!

It was then that I had an idea – a mile or so past the beginning of the Llangollen is the Middlewich branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, a link between the Shropshire Union and the Trent and Mersey Canal.  It is only 10 miles long and has four locks so as we are killing time I thought it was a good opportunity to do this link as we probably won’t feel like doing it when we are on our way back down the Trent and Mersey at the end of the season.

So we chugged on four miles and found a nice spot to moor a mile into the Middlewich Branch.

Last night's sky - and look at the colour of the roof.

Keep up the good work - only another 57' to go on the other side!

Look at that nice shiny boat.

And over...

the aqueduct.

Do you think this was the name a woman gave to her husband's weekend obsession!?

The Fender man!

Leaving Nantwich with a nice clean roof!

Precision farming.

A reminder of home,,,

Entrance to the Llangollen...we will be back!

and here we are - a queue to get onto the Middlewich Branch!

Looks like a popular place to moor!

Yes please!

This will do for the night.
