2 June 2016

The sun has got its hat on again!!!  We had a lazy morning and left to chug the Middlewich Branch – so pleased we did this – it’s beautiful – BUT it is so busy – we were third in line at the first lock and by the time we got to the second lock we were fourth in line going our way and there were nine boats waiting to come back the other way!  So we stopped and had some lunch and waited for things to calm down.

We carried on and stopped just before the last lock and had took a walk into Middlewich – a funny little town – a bit like Barnet – lots of charity shops and Barbers! A couple of banks and several takeaways.  It did have an impressive church though.

Good morning Mr Bush.

The locks are really deep here and there are so many people going in each direction that I was able to get back on the boat and let everyone else do the work,

Steve wants to know how they got here from the Isle of Wight - I know we did the Bristol Chanel last year but the Solent...!

Queuing for the lock -there are at least three in front of us,

Even the cill is nearly 6' high!

The good thing about having lots of hire boats around - the crew want to do the locks!

From speaking to people at home I understand the weather is really cold and horrible - sorry folks it so warm here the sheep have found the coolest spot in  the field and it's not even midday yet!

Hitching a ride on our life buoy!

Different - a narrow barge!

Entering Middlewich - it's nice, even in the town.

Our back garden is their back gardens (and they do look after them around here).
