The locks today were hard going again and Lou wasn’t feeling
great so I told her to stay on the boat, although I did get her off for one!
We didn’t see another boat for a couple of hours and then we arrived at
Fosse Locks, by the Roman Road, and bumped into two more boats going in the
same direction as us as well as two coming in the opposite direction so we went
through the last seven with another boat, Summer Breeze.
When we arrived at the staircase locks there was a CRT sign
saying beware of the wasps nest – it was inside one of the old lock paddle
columns. I had to walk past it three
times and I can honestly say I have never seen wasps that big – they looked
more like hornets to me!
We arrived at Long Itchington and went for a walk into the
village. Steve wasn’t feeling so good so
he went for a lie down and when he woke up he didn’t feel like going out so Lou
and I went and had some dinner then ended up in the pub on the canalside, The
Two Boats, where they had a band playing so we got our dance in!
Never thought we would stay in a Lidl car park! |
We just caught a glimpse of Leamington Spa Station. |
Some more low bridges - we take the chimney off before we set off these days! |
That's the Range Master Factory - one thing I do miss - my range! |
Up on the roof... |
Floating shop! |
Poorly Parsley! |
Poppies. |
First weathervane today - this one's got a fancy tail! |
Cheer up! |
Now what do I do with this gate! |
Rubber gloves at the ready - emptying and filling. |
Precision farming! |
Look at the size of these wasps. |
I can't think of anyone that would want to get too close to this! |
Coming up the staircase. |
Bad hair day! |
Last lock of the day! |
Happy Gnome! |
Moored up in Long Itchington. |
Another one! |
Pretty little village. |
We'll be back for dinner later - run by the Mills Family! |
Some great old buildings. |
Pixies are out again! |
And in the Two Boats enjoying the band! |
