Wednesday 14 October 2015

I woke up this morning to the sound of a woodpecker which is another reason why it is so wonderful living so close to nature.  We pulled pins and left Bulbourne Junction at about 9.30am.

The film crew have left lots of stuff here so they are probably coming back today to finish filming.

We reached Tring Summit Level and shortly arrived at Cow Roast our first lock of the day and we are now going back down which is a bit easier in the locks as you can just open the paddles and let the water out, whereas when you are going up you have ground paddles that you open first then you open the paddles on the gates very slowly once the lock is half full as the strength of the water coming through the gates is really strong and causes the boat to swing around in the lock.

We arrived in Berkhamsted at 1.30pm just before the heavens opened!  We saw the fuel barge and stopped him for some coal.  When arriving in Berkhamsted the grass verge was covered in dog poo which I pointed out to Steve about 6 times which he managed to avoid whilst banging the stakes in to moor.  Then I saw the fuel barge and called out to him that we needed some coal.  You know what's coming - when Steve went down the side to help the guy get the coal on the roof he stepped in the biggest most disgusting pile you have ever seen so that pair of trainers is now in a plastic bag in a bin in Berkhamsted - why do some people spoil it for everybody else - you see most dog owners picking it up but it just takes a few to spoil it.....aaarrrggghhh.

I took a couple of photos of the film set Tuesday evening

Obviously we are behind them but I think we will recognise the scene when it is aired.

Moored amongst the autumn trees at Bulbourne Junction

Leaving Bulbourne Junction (seem to have a problem with the camera shutter)

The birds like this weathervane!

The props are still on set - they must be coming back.

And on the other side of the canal are the lorries.

A curved bridge near Tring.

The sun has got his hat on!

Witchy Poo!

Ready for Halloween...

This was the tree that we knocked the chimney hat off on back in April!

Unfortunately I can't remember where or why I took some of these photos!
