Thursday 7 April 2016

Lovely fresh morning and we have to get going so as not to upset anyone by staying on the lock mooring.  Slipped lines at 7.45am and oh boy had we forgotten just how cold it is standing on the back of a narrowboat when it is only 7 degrees with the wind blowing!

We had about an hour and a half then the rain came but we were ready for it with the waterproofs. We were heading for Windsor but decided that as we couldn't feel our fingers or toes we would stop at Staines - I've never been to Staines....I have now and I'm quite impressed with the town.  We found a mooring just on the edge of town.  Although a short cruising day with the cold and rain we called it a day after 4 hours and had a warm up in front of the fire then had a walk into town.

Such a great time of year watching the wild life courting.

These grebes were lovely to watch mimicking each other's moves.

Leaving the naughty spot!

We're 57' but look tiny in the locks on the Thames!

Mandarin Duck.

Now I know how frustrating it was for my dad every time he tried to take a photo of me when I was young - the family album is full of pictures of the back of my head!  I still don't like having my picture taken!

That's the entrance to the River Wey - we will go back and finish it one day.

A choice of chairs and you have to sit on the table!

Chertsey Bridge.

Through the gate and onto the path of the next chapter.

All in a day's work - up a tree in front of the M3 on a rainy day with his chainsaw swinging from his belt and he still found the time to give me a wave!

What makes you come home from work one day and say I think we need a polar bear on the veranda darling!

Moored up in Staines and the rain has stopped for a while.
