Tuesday 12 April 2016 (out of date order - I didn't realise this hadn't published!)

We've enjoyed our time in Windsor but time to move on we still have Maidenhead, Marlow and Henley to visit.  Another lovely day - they had forecast rain for this afternoon but as at 6.30pm we haven't seen any.  We did have some last night though and the river level has risen quite considerably, not to mention how fast it is flowing - unfortunately for us it is going against us - we've been doing 1400 revs going nowhere!

It took us four hours to get to Maidenhead but glad to say we found a mooring.  Having been for a walk through the town and a quick visit to Waitrose to stock up with supplies I must say that I am a little disappointed with the town.  From the river it looks beautiful with big houses and immaculately kept gardens.  Maidenhead Bridge is an impressive structure but the town is fairly characterless and is full of fast food places and charity shops.  It's very pleasant down on the river though even though the river is on the verge of overflowing.

Goodbye Windsor and Lizzy - enjoy your birthday party next week!

I tried to capture this - about seven swans flew by!

Beautiful blue sky and a very fast flow on the Thames.

Hope nobody was sitting on this bench when it decided to go for a swim!

Just as I was thinking I have only seen one kingfisher since we left Carthagena this little fella flew by and sat on the branch.

What a nice hotel - must have a look at their website, if only I could remember the name!

Dad - was this the French Brothers boat that you were talking about?

Some people have garden gnomes and others have garden giraffes!

Under the M4.

The river is threatening to overflow...

Approaching Maidenhead down millionaires row.

Maidenhead Bridge.

This looks like a good spot to moor.

Even the geese are fighting the strength of the flow - unfortunately the food I threw in for them also took off back to Windsor!
