A short day today, just five locks and three miles to
Berkhamsted.
It’s quiet on the canal, there doesn’t seem to be many
people moving around. I suppose there
may be some more people out during the half term week but in the meantime we
seem to have the waterways pretty much to ourselves.
We passed a couple of working boats as we came through one
of the locks before Berkhamsted who said they had got stuck in the pound below
the lock but they are heavy old working boats and we were fine.
There was space to moor just under the footbridge so we stopped there. Steve walked down to see if there were any other spaces but we decided to stay where we were and went for a walk around lovely Berkhamsted.

Hello Mr Heron - we seem to be at one with the birds this morning. |
|
I can't remember why I took this - it's called Gas 2 Lock. Are the trees giving way to Autumn? |
