Monday 2 May 2016

We left our mooring early at 8.30am to beat the hire boaters back to Thrupp to drop Lucy off to her car.  We didn’t see any other boats moving around until we got there then we had to queue to get on the water point and the wind decided to whip up around the turning point so the fun began.  Whilst waiting for the water point we watched boats trying to go and come through the swing bridge - one hire boat with three couples on board ended up turning 180 degrees so they decided to go back the way they came, then another couple on a hire boat came through the swing bridge and whilst the lady was trying to pull over to pick her husband up (he having operated the swing bridge) she got blown so accelerated full blast into the bank, then into the back of us!

Lou left us and we eventually got onto the water point – she got home before we had finished filling the water tank!

Deja vu – back along the same stretch of canal as yesterday much quieter today just a couple of liveaboards and one hire boat.  We managed to just get back to where we moored last night then the heavens opened.  We chugged on through another lock but then decided to moor up before we got too wet, just as well we did as it then really chucked it down!

We are in a very rural spot between two villages, Kirtlington and Lower Heyford.

Turned around and back to Thrupp.

Is that Rudolph?

I wonder if having the bottom of your house in the canal causes damp...

Hedgerow Garden.

I'm struggling with this lock - you might have to come and help me!

Pulling the swing bridge open.

Taking flight - I think we made him jump!

The first lock in 80 odd that Steve has done and I'm pleased to say that I got the boat in without crashing!

Dove Tree House.

Rosie Minor.

The local chicken estate!

Defiant or dopey - can you see the post displaying a no fishing sign!
