We’re back and chugging again complete with sis on board –
shame it decided to rain for most of the day today. We arrived back at the boat yesterday but
decided to stay in the marina for another night to get everything sorted out.
Unfortunately I didn’t see quite as much of the Ashby Canal
as I had hoped I would as we only got as far as Trinity Marina but what we saw
of it was lovely, although I am sure it would have been even more lovely if the
sun had shone even just one way!
Back out onto the Coventry Canal and more great countryside
then we hit the outskirts of Nuneaton – not so great – then just as quickly
we were back in the countryside again.
We passed a lovely boatyard – the best kept I think I have
seen. Still lots of hire boats on this
stretch of canal – shame when you book a week off work and pay all that money
to hire a boat but hey that’s England!
We chugged for five hours and have moored in Atherstone,
just before the flight of 11 locks climbing up to Polesworth passing Pooley
Hall heading for the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal where it meets the Coventry
Canal at Fazeley Junction.
We had a walk around the town and stocked up on the
provisions we forgot yesterday. Fingers
crossed it is forecast to be drier tomorrow!
