Lovely - summer's here again!  Shorts and sun cream today.  It all feels so different in the sun.  We had a long cruising day today - set off at 8.45am and didn't stop until 6.30pm in a great little village called Penkridge.  Lots of boats on the canal today.  The locks on this stretch are very deep but thankfully the gates and paddles are not too hard, except for one!

We arrived at Fradley Junction, through the swing bridge and turned left continuing on the Trent and Mersey Canal, eventually we arrived at Great Hayward Junction where we went left again and joined the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal.  Once moored Lou and I had a walk into Penkridge to check out the shops for tomorrow.  Brrr it’s turned chilly this evening.

Leaving our quiet mooring just before Armitage.

Sending Lou into the tunnel to check for oncoming traffic.

Wee Willy Winckie

As opposed to sober heaven?

Looks like this boat has seen better days.

Indoor swimming pool - funny place to keep your BMW and Harley!

Caught on camera.

The gardens are very steep here.
Pimms O'Clock!

Over another aqueduct.

Great Haywood Junction - turning into the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.

And another aqueduct over the River Sow.

Lunch on the move.

This heron has just eaten a big fish - you can see it in his gullet!
