Thursday 5 May 2016

We had another long day today but in glorious sunshine who minds?  I did a quick dash to Morrisons for some supplies and we set off about 9.15am.

We left Banbury and are still very much in rural countryside.  We chugged another 9 miles and went through another 12 locks - including a flight of five.  When we arrived at the fourth lock of the day we came round a bend to a queue of boats - they were all waiting to go through the lock - there were six boats in front of us - this has never happened before!

Unfortunately there were not many boats travelling in the opposite direction so all six of us had to wait until the boat in front had gone through, then empty the lock and start again!  We all helped each other so made light work of it.  Same thing with the flight of five - although my hands and knees are now telling me it was hard work - it was lovely to be in the sunshine chatting with the other chuggers.

We stopped at about 6.30pm in a place called Fenny Compton for the night.

Our mooring in Banbury - there's nothing like having a shopping center right on your doorstep!

This donkey has his own caravan!

Back under the M40.

Having a dip!!

My sisters and me!

Joining the queue for the lock!

Moo!

Scarecrows just hanging around!

Thankfully the lift bridges are mostly left open here.

What used to be Fenny Compton Tunnel - it is now a steep, thickly wooded cutting.

Cherry pickers field.

Our garden for tonight.

Quack!
