Monday 23 May 2016

Surfaced a little late and had breakfast before setting off again – another nice day and still surrounded by amazing countryside.  We stopped at a village called Whittington to grab some milk then carried on until we reached Whittington and Fradley Junction where we went through a swing bridge then turned left and joined the Trent and Mersey Canal, through three locks and another few miles.

It didn’t rain this afternoon as forecast – happy days!  We decided to stop in a nice remote spot tonight just before the village of Armitage – all we can hear is ducks, sheep and a distant train.

Leaving Hopwas - what a great little place, well we had fun anyway!

Bye John - the Landlord at The Red Lion/

OK we won't go for a walk through these woods.

Is that a window in the bridge.

My first weather vane in ages!

Asparagus farm.

The Bell at Whittington -shame the sun is not over the yardarm yet!

Fradley Junction.

Our nephew!

Ahh - the first cygnets I've seen this year,

Hello down there!

And down to other end to fill the lock.

Always the way - you meet a boat coming the other way when there is a moored boat and one that has broken free and is sinking!
