Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 May 2016

Yes - the sun is shining again and they have said that we are going to have a few nice days. It is not quite as hot here as it is in London but beautiful nonetheless!  Wonderful countryside - just fields as far as the eye can see in every direction.

Some of the locks on this stretch are really deep with massive doors so it makes opening and closing them pretty difficult!  I saw an older man, who was travelling alone, at one lock and we were talking about the lock Steve and I had just come through - I said I almost had to get Steve to climb out of the lock to help me close it - he said that the last time he came through he had to wait for some passing walkers to help him!

As we approached Banbury we weren't very impressed - it was quite industrial and there was a big gypsy site on one side - we decided to carry on through the town lock and very glad we did - there were lots of boats moored and it had a totally different feel to it.

Our longest cruising day yet - 8.20am - 6.00pm and we were shattered so we just stayed in - we'll go exploring in the morning!

Wednesday - Happy Birthday Steve - 28 apparently!

We had a nice walk around Banbury in the morning and explored the town. I bought and planted my second pot of plants, the first I planted last week, the day it froze overnight!

Celebrated in the evening by going to the local working man's club - set up in the seventies by General Foods (birds custard etc), then went for a chinese meal.
