Saturday 11 April 2015

We knew the weather was not due to be good this morning so planned not to rush off.  Decided to give it a try at about 11.30am but it was still really windy so we did a couple of locks and moored up in the shelter of some trees just after Seabrook locks 34 and 35.  3.30pm and the wind has dropped so we decided to push on.  Through Great Seabrooke Lock and past the swing bridge.  Just mooring at the Marsworth 38-37 Locks and caught up with another boat going through who asked if we were going to do the Marsworth flight (7 locks) - we hadn't intended to but there were three of them and two of us so we knew it would be silly not to lighten the load.  They were from Welwyn and were tree surgeons that qualified at Capel Manor!

They stopped at the top of the flight at Bulborne Junction - we pushed on to find an elson emptying site (too much information!) and finally moored at Cow Roast at 8.00pm.  Shattered - can't get TV reception so shower, dinner and early to bed.

Leaving the mooring at Ivinghoe - nice spot!

Steve rescuing a fender that we knocked off when mooring - looks like it wants to get away again!

Under the bridge at Marsworth.

That might have been a nice pub to visit but we have committed to doing the flight now so we'll have a beer onboard.

Brentford 39 miles - wow it feels like we have done a lot more than 38 miles since the last sign!

Our namesake moored at the lock at Cow Roast.

Cow Roast lock is 100 years older than Harry!
